Becoming an Amazon affiliate is free and easy. After a quick registration, you’ll have a multitude of books, toys, electronic goods, software, music and many other products to offer to people who visit your blog/website. The way it works is that every time someone buys a product on Amazon through your affiliate link, you will earn a commission (as long as that customer never returns the product that was bought). Commission percentages vary from product to product.
There are many ways to link to your Amazon affiliate link. The system even offers easy ways to do this. Just log in to your affiliate account and visit the section that says ‘Build Links’. Here, you’ll be able to create links as follows:
1) Product Links – With this one, you create affiliate links to specific products. This is especially great if you’re doing reviews or you’re writing an article or piece about something in particular. For example, you mention the digital camera Sony Cybershot DSCS60 4.1 MP, you can easily create a product link like this:
2) Recommended Product Links – This method of affiliate linking is particularly good if you wish to showcase a certain product line with a few recommended products in that line based on keywords or categories. So, for example, I have a music blog or website and I wish to showcase the bestsellers from Amazon. I simply choose ‘music’ as a product line and choose ‘general bestsellers’ as a sub-category. Alternatively, I may just wish to showcase all Michael Jackson collections so I can use ‘Michael Jackson’ as my keywords instead of using a sub-category. Here’s an example:
3) Banner Links – This is used either for general promotion of Amazon.com or for promoting the Amazon.com credit card (affiliates for the credit card need to be pre-approved).
4) Text Links – This is an alternative if you don’t wish to use affiliate links with pictures. So, for example, I simply wish to create a text link to Amazon.com’s bestselling beauty products, I can just create a text link like this: Top Beauty Sellers.
5) Search Box Option – If you simply wish to feature a search engine for Amazon.com products on your blog/website, then you can use this option. An example of an Amazon.com search engine looks like this:
So, if you haven’t signed up with Amazon yet, you can give its affiliate programme a chance by Joining Amazon Affiliates Now.
