Scott Allen, About.com’s Entrepreneurs Guide, has a great article on Legitimate Businesses You Can Start on a Shoestring Budget (Under $20). He lists the following options for people wishing to start a business without a lot of capital:
1) Webpreneur
2) Consultant
3) Housesitter / Petsitter
4) Professional Organizer
5) Avon Independent Sales Representative
6) Personal Services - Shopping & Errands
7) Desktop Publishing
Tutoring
9) eBay Seller
10) Secretarial Service - Typing / Transcription / Proofreading
You can pretty much do most of these businesses as a home-based business online. Well, especially business ideas #1, #2, #8, and #9. And maybe even #7 and #10 (virtual secretarial/office services). Even Avon has an affiliate programme you can join via LinkShare.

There are alot of different ways to make money online. The hard part is picking one that works.
h thomas: you’re right.
I have read alot of info here before I started with a business of my own. I think what scared me away from working at home in the very beginning was that most of the programs wanted a start up fee.
But I searched and found a way to work from home that actually pays.
Of those people who actually work from home, how many of you work more than 30 hours a week? I am really curious about this. When I was doing chacha in the beginning, when they first came online, I was making decent money, but once they changed the pay structure, I made minimal money. I was working 50 hours a week to make enough money to pay a light bill.
Now I only work 15 hours a week, 3 hours a day.
How many hours a week do you other work at home folks work on the average.
Thanks
Val
