Making Money Online : A Self-Analysis

in General: Making Money Stuff

Maybe it’s my background in psychology. But, I believe that understanding our motives and goals play a part in our success or failure in every endeavour.

Take making money online as an example. You may want to be able to earn money on the Internet, but you may or may not succeed in this, depending on your motives and skillsets.

So, what are good questions to ask to find out whether making money online is something for you or not? Here are some that I recommend:

Ask yourself first of all: Why do you want to make money online? Is it because you wish to have a home-based business? Do you wish to earn part-time income for your family? Do you want to establish a full-blown Internet business? Do you simply enjoy working with the computer and the Internet, and you just hope to earn some extra cash for doing what you already love to do? All of these things are good reasons. But, if you simply want to make a quick buck, then you might end up sorely disappointed.

Next question: What are current skills that you possess that may prove to be useful as an online entrepreneur? Technical skills, marketing skills, sales, writing, networking, search engine optimisation expertise, web design, online teaching… These are some very useful skills to have if you’re thinking of making money online.

This brings us to the third question: What are skills that you don’t have and you need in order to succeed? Let’s say, you don’t have the necessary technical skills to set up an online shop. Are you willing to learn the skills or are you happy to pay someone to get this going? Just keep on listing skills that you need to have and keep asking how are you going to obtain it.

I wouldn’t say "great" example. An example, maybe. But I’m not so sure about the great part. LOL! ;-) Anyway, thanks!
