Adil Wali has an interesting article on ‘The Do’s and Don’ts of Launching a Small Business Website‘ at SelfSEO.com. Some helpful tips include:

The DonÂ’ts
- DonÂ’t spend too much on web hosting.
- DonÂ’t mold your website to a pre-defined package.
- DonÂ’t start the project until you are fully prepared.

The Dos
- Do have a marketing budget for your website.
- Do prepare a timeline for the project.
- Do research developers before setting a budget.
- Do plan to keep your site up-to-date.

I agree with most of the points mentioned in the article. There are other dos and don’ts on planning a business website that I’d like to add – including:

Don’t…
- try to launch a business website for the sake of having one. Know your goals and define the appropriate actions.
- make it difficult for your customers to get a hold of you and/or your products/services.

Do…
- learn as much as you can about creating an online presence.
- think about the URL and the name you’re going to give your website.
- consider a business blog, if you think it’s appropriate.
- take in to account good content (original, optimised, grammatically correct, good spelling, etc.).

First class.
A new or old hand at marketing consultancy can always learn more. And isn’t that a part of growing your business.
Continual learning and making sure you implement your new knowledge.
Thank you for your help.
