Yes, I’m feeling a little bit rich lately – what with yesterday’s cheque coming through and now, receiving my second AdSense cheque in the mail.
That’s right. It’s only my second cheque from Google AdSense (and the first in my local currency – yay!). I only learned about AdSense around February 2004. I signed-up, but didn’t really pay much attention to it. ‘Just pasted a code here and there in some of my sites and blogs. I didn’t care about placements – and everything else that publishers did to maximise its use.
But, when I received my first cheque early this year — without ever checking my AdSense stats within my first year — I was pleasantly surprised. And, AdSense suddenly got my attention. After all, that first cheque covered my domain name fees and hosting fees for one year (for at least two blogs/sites), without me doing much at all.
That’s when I started thinking… well, what if I did a bit more? What can I accomplish?
Well, the shortform answer: What I accomplished in 11 months in 2004, I managed to accomplish within 3 months in the first part of 2005 in terms of AdSense $$$. In those 3 months, I’ve only really made an effort in the last 2 months. And, looking at my current stats, it looks like I’m now able to accomplish the same results within 1.5 months. And, hopefully, things will just keep getting better from hereon.
So, I suppose the main lesson to be learned here is: Never overlook an opportunity. Making money is all about knowing the potential of each possible venture. Sure, some may end up going bust. But, some may lead you to the right path — even if it takes a while for you to get there. The best thing to do is to research and to learn all you can about each opportunity that comes your way. Then, give it your best shot.
