Updating Affiliate Links

by Shai Coggins on July 8th, 2005

As an affiliate of Bare Necessities, I receive occasional emails from them. And, recently I received this interesting tip from one of their newsletters: Outdated data is the #1 conversion killer. Accurate information in your marketing efforts is absolutely critical.

It basically says that if you’re using promo code affiliate links and such in your sites/blogs, then you must make an effort to update your information regularly. Dead links and expired promotions are just not the way to impress potential customers.

Even if you’re adding these promo code links in blog entries with dates, you still might want to go back to edit your entries by posting an update that says something like - UPDATE: These promos have now expired. Please check this link for latest offers. - or something similar.

If you don’t see yourself updating your affiliate links often, then you might want to avoid using promotional codes. Just use Dynamic Rich Media links or basic static links instead.
