What are user-generated testimonials?
These user testimonials come in the form of feedback, emails or comments. If you’re selling on eBay, buyers know that they have the option to leave feedback for you. If your online business does not have a feedback or rating function, then customers might not easily know that you’re seeking testimonials.
So, what’s the best way to obtain user testimonial?
Communicate with your customers! Make sure that they have a way of easily contacting you.
Then, ask if you can help them with their purchase. Ask if they received the product and if there’s anything else you can do for them. Let them know when a product has been shipped or a service has been delivered.
Each communication you generate with your customer becomes an avenue for them to give you feedback. Besides, communication creates good relationships.
If you think you’ve offered a good service and you’ve communicated well with your clients or customers, you can also ask them for a testimonial. But, when you do, try not to put any pressure on them. Let them know that it’s okay to write a short feedback. Let them know that they’re free to decline when it comes to sending a testimonial. And, even if they do decline, thank them anyway.
How do you use user testimonials?
There are many ways you can use testimonials from your clients or customers. Add them to your site! Feature them in prominent places. If you have a blog, share them there. Include one or two user testimonials in every marketing document that you send out - email newsletters, brochures or product catalogue.
Using such testimonials regularly also encourages other customers/clients to send in their own feedback.
