If there’s one web hosting service that I can recommend without a worry, it’s ICDSoft. I’ve been using them for the last four years and I don’t think I’ve ever encountered any issue with them at all. They’re inexpensive, reliable, and has a top-notch technical support service. The only things that I wish they’d have are: multiple domain hosting, Fantastico, and more flexibility in their plans. But overall, they’re great.
Anyway, I recently signed up with their affiliate programme. And, it looks like it’s easy to get set-up with a reseller account with them as well. So, I did that too. I’ve never dabbled with web hosting reseller accounts before. I thought about it as a way to make money online once upon a time. But, I just never felt I could get in to it. Besides, I didn’t want to be a reseller of a service that I couldn’t back 100%. So, no matter how cheap some reseller accounts seemed to be, I never succumbed.
With ICDSoft’s system, it seems so much easier. Apart from the fact that I already use their service and I’ve been happy with it for years, I didn’t have to shell out any money in advance. So, I figured that I can try to learn how to set up a web host reselling business in my own time. And, even if I don’t end up pursuing it, it’s all right. It didn’t cost me a thing.
In any case, here’s a portion of my 4.5-star review of ICDSoft:
As a (paying) customer for the past 3+ years, I can’t recommend ICDSoft highly enough. Not only do they offer one of the cheapest hosting services around, they also have the best customer and technical support service that I’ve ever encountered in a web hosting company. Often, when I send a support ticket, I get a response in under an hour. Apart from these two terrific things, ICDSoft’s hosting packages are also feature-rich. Most of these features are compatible with many blogging software like Movable Type and WordPress.
However, even though ICDSoft does offer great value, support and features, the two-plan availability is quite limiting, as some people may wish for smaller storage space, more MySQL databases, more sub-domains, etc. And, while 333MB is a generous storage space for personal users, offering just 1 MySQL database to go with it is a bit stingy. It would’ve also been great if they offered the option to host multiple domains in one web hosting account.
A couple of other things in my ICDSoft wish list are: 1) Support for secure FTP, especially useful when using remotely-hosted weblog software like Blogger.com; and 2) Offer the inclusion of a blogging software as a pre-installed script option in order to tap in to the growing market of bloggers.
Having said all these, I’d still say that ICDSoft is a good bet if you’re seeking for a web hosting company to use for your blogging needs.
