Hsien Hsien Lei of Cottontimer pointed me to a web money-making venture recently. She writes at ChaCha.com: Human Guided Searches:
Started by Scott Jones, the inventor of voicemail, ChaCha provides both traditional search and a guided search depending on your choice. It’s like IM with a purpose.
Hsien also quotes this from an InformationWeek article about ChaCha.com:
ChaCha plans to pay its guides by rank, based on the number of hours spent answering queries (time spent idle isn’t paid). Yet it’s not a professional salary. The ChaCha Underground has four ranks: apprentice (not paid until 10 queries have been successfully answered); pro ($5/hour); master ($5/hour); and elite (the top 20% of guides who’ll earn $10/hour). Additionally, guides who sponsor others as guides earn 10% of what their sponsored network earns.

Hey, I started working for ChaCha. Basically what you do is answer peoples questions and get paid 10 cents per question. It might not be much (3-7$/hour) but its legit. I’ve made $100 in 4 days so far not working too much. Check it out at http://becomeaguide.chacha.com/. You have to take two tests and then they let you know if your accepted. Make sure to add me as a referral to up your chances. Just type my email (KickAzzElite@yahoo.com) in the referral space.

I am a guide too and if you go to the chacha website and click on where it says become a guide and it will ask you if someone referred you then you can put my email address in there. I have had people tell me that they can’t get in by themselves but when they put my email address in they got hired right away. Hi there, I also was looking on the cha cha website and saw they are not hiring for guides right now. I do not get home from work until 3am, and can never fall asleep until about 7 am. You can also use my email if you like. I’ve been checking their site quite often and they are no guide openings. Can you still get in with an invite/referral even if their site says they have no openings? Hi. ChaCha is not currently taking apps, and You Data is cool, but you don’t need referral for that either, you can just go straight to the site! (No offense Natalie!)
No offense taken:) But why wouldn’t you give someone credit of a referral as long as it doesn’t cost you anything? If you sign up with or without a referral link, you still make the same but the referral makes a little off of it too ya know? lol

ChaCha is a good source of income for me. I’ve been a guide for only a short time and have made quite a bit of money, though it is a job and you do have to work to make money. It’s best to use an invitation from a guide because you’ll be activated immediately. If you sign up on the web page you have no idea how far down the list you are.
Well, I passed the test and got all the way to the end but, the page froze up and was left hanging. I tried a few more times but was left with disapointment. Where do I go now?
