It’s been over a month since I tried using PayPerPost. At the moment, I’m only using it in my ‘test’ site, Chrysalis Creativity. So far, I took about 5 ‘opportunities’ in total. 1 was accepted, 1 was rejected (because my site was not in the “right” category, according to the advertiser, but I’m not sure why I was eligible to take the opportunity to begin with!), 1 never made it to submission (due to ‘all spots being taken’), and 2 are still awaiting for approval/rejection (1 week in the queue and counting!).
So, based on my experience, here are my initial thoughts about the programme:
The Bad:
- Things seem to take a long time to happen. First, the sign-up process took ages. And, the approval also took several days. Whenever I signed up for an opportunity, it also takes several days (if not weeks) to receive an approval/rejected notice. I find this particularly annoying for ‘rejections’, as it means you’ve had to write a post, send enough link traffic to the ‘advertiser’ and then they turn you down. It’s just a waste of time and resources when that sort of thing happens. If there’s at least a decent turnaround schedule, then it would be more tolerable.
- Errors, errors. After I finally got approved, I started using the affiliate buttons in my site/s. A few days later, I was told that there were ‘duplicate IDs’ issued, so I had to re-generate my affiliate codes. I did just that. And then a few days later, I received another similar email. So, I re-generated the codes again. Very, very frustrating.
- More on Delays. Not only did the approval process and such took ages, it also took a while for them to sort Google PRs, Alexa rankings, etc. This meant I was unable to take opportunities for a long time as well.
- Difficulties with Listing Opportunities. I don’t know why they continue to list certain opportunities when all the spots are already taken. I once made the mistake of writing up a post before I actually clicked on the ‘Take This Opportunity’ button and I ended up with a message saying all the spots for that opportunity was already taken. So, another waste of time and energy.
The Good:
- Payment Delivery. They DO pay, when they said they would. It took over a month to receive my first payment (from submission of post to actual PayPal payment). So, in this respect, they do deliver.
- Plenty of opportunities listed regularly. I don’t check PPP that often. But, when I do, I often see opportunities listed. At least 90-100 at a time. I’m not eligible for all (due to rankings, etc), but there’s still a decent amount there. Except, I have to admit, I’d rather NOT write about some of the things that are being asked to be promoted there. I especially dislike those listings that advertisers insist on a positive review.
- It’s never stagnant. It looks like there’s always something new happening at PPP. The folks there obviously are trying to develop the programme. They’re even trying all sorts of stuff like video promos and such. But, I’d rather see the kinks sorted out to make the system better. Especially if they want to attract blogs/bloggers that have more influence.
Now What?
Seriously? I’m not sure if it’s something I’m going to continue to pursue. The time spent on certain ‘opportunities’ just don’t seem to justify the financial return. For a ’small’ site like ChryalisCreativity, the extra $10 or so per month may seem cool. But, I don’t see that as a viable long-term option if you seriously want to make the most out of monetising your blog or site. I mean, I’ve already earned more from running TextLinkAds* on the site, and I didn’t even have to do much to get that amount. If I continue to explore similar options and just concentrate my time on building my site, then dollar returns might even be better.
The long wait, errors, etc. just don’t make it appealing to me either. I don’t see why there should be such long delays. Sure, they may not have control on when advertisers review posts… But, there should definitely be a better system.
So yeah, I’ll probably give PPP some more time to evolve. At the moment, I’m not really satisfied with it.

The only times I’ve used Pay Per Post is when I send a blog to the junk yard but load it up with paid posts to make a quick $100+ before it’s done.
I heard you found a guest blogger, let me know if they need any extra help.
