This pretty much concludes Chrysalis Creativity’s $100 challenge. There’s $66.63 pending to come through to the bank, but since they’re AdSense payments, they should come in my next cheque payment.
It took about 4 months to get to this target ($25/month), but that’s not so bad. Well, if you’re not thinking of making a living off this, of course. It pretty much covers the cost of running the blog plus change. And, of course, there’s still potential for it to grow, as the blog matures and develops more content, etc.
This, to me, is a good learning exercise. As last year, Chrysalis Creativity barely made enough to cover hosting and domain costs (approx. $20-25/year). Now, within 4 months, it became a blog that earns enough money to cover costs AND provide some extra cash in the bank. Not bad. Especially considering I haven’t done much with it, in terms of time and such. It just proves that yes, you can make money online.
In another post, I’ll be sharing the top lessons I’ve learned from this $100 challenge.
If you’re part of this challenge, I look forward to finding out how you’re doing with your $100 challenge too.
If you have any questions about this case study, please let me know. I’m happy to share as much as I can.

Hey Shai,
I love this idea, it has so much potential on the teaching/coaching side. I started a mini challenge with my dad, I called it gBay - from garage sales to ebay. We had to go and buy things from garage sales and sell them on ebay to make a profit. I made made -$1.50, but learnt so much (we had to put it on hold due to personal reasons).
I would not have thought about challenging myself if it wasn’t for your blog, I can’t wait for your next challenge to start!! I love reading your stuff it’s so inspiring.
take care
