In all my online money making years, I’ve never looked in to one popular way some webpreneurs make money: Domain Cash Parking.
What is it? Basically, you buy a domain name and choose a place to ‘park’ it where you can get paid through some kind of revenue sharing system.
This is good if you own several domain names that are not being used and/or ‘under construction’. Instead of leaving these domains on their own, you can park them with a domain parking service and you can earn money by doing so.
There are several services that offer domain cash parking. And, depending on the number of domains you have, you might want to look at different services. Some cash parking services are free and some charge a fee.
If you have less than 50 domains that you wish to park, one popular service is Sedo. It has a free and a paid (Pro) version. I’ve heard some good reports about Sedo, but haven’t really had a first hand experience.
Another popular service is called Parked. A couple of other options: plus1.net and iMonetize.
All these also handle more than 50 domains. However, these cash parking services prefer to deal with bulk domain name parking (50+): Active Audience and Traffic Z.
How much money can people make with domain cash parking? It depends. Some people have reported earnings of a few cents to earning $50+ a week per domain name.

I think I’m up to $1.06 (US) on my parked domains, now.
I have never used the service, but Godaddy.com has a park for $$ service too.
I use Sedo.com and get 21 euro per month (from 3 domains)
Elizabeth: Is that a total amount over how long? Or, is that a weekly/monthly revenue?
Char: Yeah, I’ve heard of GoDaddy’s services but couldn’t quite justify the monthly payment considering they can’t assure you of revenue. I haven’t tried it out and can’t find any positive review of the service.

Sadly, that is the total over about 6 months.
I do admit, though, that I haven’t put a lot of effort into it, and, it’s only about 6 domains.

Stay away from godaddy.com for parking services. I tried them for 6 weeks with over 500 names. Then had problems, and switched to parked.com, free service, very user friendly, and the revenue increased 50%. I would like to know comments on other parking services.
I use Godaddy.com I make over $100 every day and I have about 30 domains. Some make a lot more then others. I have some that make almost nothing and I have others that make over $1000 per month.
I just got a new domain from GoDaddy stuck it on cash park, and clicked my own links the first 3 days (about 5-6 links a day). Since its a new site I know the only traffic I get is my own since its not listed anywhere. The money earned so far in 3 days was about $8.00 (3×5 = 15 clicks). I paid $9.99 for the service. Average $/click was about $0.50-$1.50(o_O). I’m tempted to go to Sedo.com since some people say it pays out more. Who knows. If anyone has advise for a new domainer let me know.
If your site gets more traffic than just yourself then grab the service, click some links to pay for its self. You got nothing to lose after the first few days.
I use godaddy.com because that is were I am able to make the most money. I have tried Sedo.com and I made almost nothing per click. There have been months at Godaddy.com that I have made over $3000. Then they ended up giving me the cash parking service free for an entire year and at 100% instead of only 80% so that helps even more.
Mitchell I’m curious to see what type of site generates that kind of revenue. Was it something you developed or a recently expired name that had a lot of incoming traffic. That type of information would be really helpful for me for when I make a decision picking up new domain names. My plan for cash parking is to pick up a few good traffic sites instead of 1000s of not so good ones. I’m learning about page ranks, and how they affect traffic etc.
I have to note that clicking on your own banner ads is looked down upon for internet advertising. There is even a few articles about Google sueing a company for doing so. I was just curious as to what type of payout godaddy offered for its pay per month services to decide whether or not its worth keeping. Similar info regarding Sedo’s payouts would be nice, however I do realize the amount per click might also depend on the subject matter as well. I now have a target of atleast 15-20 clicks per month to break even (about 1500 visitors a month? Correct me if I’m wrong).
I parked my domains on sedo and thinking to go for more domains.
I believe investing on domains is a good choice. Anybody got an idea how to increase traffic on your parked domains?

i say stay away from godaddy.com for parking services too. i have about 20 domains, and have used for about few months…bad return (can’t even cover the money i paid)and very bad customer service…I will try sedo/sedo pro, not sure yet..

I have a ton of domains at Godaddy and only ‘discovered’ this parking thingy. Can someone help me out? If I own the domains with Godaddy, can I park them at Sedo to make money? I really don’t want to PAY godaddy for something that is unproven as I am not sure how to build traffic to the sites anyhow…

Yes, you can park them at sedo or namedrive or whereever you want to park them. However read the terms of service for each parking service you want to join. Namedrive doesn’t allow people to drive traffic to the site in my experience.
I’m trying out whypark for a site, and giving it a test run. Details are in my blog. I think Shai is trying out 2 other services in one of her more recent posts. Leonard posted some info about parked.com a few comments up.
Domaining really depends on the domain name. If your site gets alot of type in traffic, you can make okay money @ sedo etc. If your site gets little to traffic them your better off developing it or using something like whypark or other service to get indexed in google for free traffic.
I have several sites parked at Sedo and i’m earning next to nothing. I have optimised all domains and researched key words thinking that this will increase revenue, but i have so far failed. The domains that i have are not page ranked and have no links. Is this the cause of my problems? I am struggling to find quality info regarding increasing parking revenue.
I would greatly appreciate any advice from anyone having success with sedo parking.
MoneyNews – what you did is clickfraud by purposely clicking on your own ads. GoDaddy should have figured that out and refunded the cost in clicks to the advertisers and cancelled your account.
Yea I kind of figured that out after reading the TOS of different domain parking services. Then going on to read about what not to do. Anyways its been has been taken cared of.
I do most of my domaineering currently at Parked.com, however, some of my domain names do better at GoDaddy. Parked.com revenue way down last few days. While my friend currently does better at Fabulous.com than with Parked.com, my experience is otherwise. So, I guess it depends on the domain.
I only have about 5 domain names, where would be a good place for me to park at? I know I can’t do it at parked.com as they want you to have 10.
Hi, I have about 20 domains parked at godaddy and 8 of them make $0.00 everyday, 3 make about $5.00 average per month while 8 others do about $50 per month. I do however have 1 that does about $1500 per month. Not sure if I am allowed to post the name or not but it starts with http://www.sony____.com It does very very well.
I have to say, It depends on the search term. 1 added note: I don’t think you can do any SEO with a parked domain. Not even sure how you can do that anyway. It will helped if you have a established domain name associated with a website that you have good traffic with prior to parking it. Develope a domain, establish backlinks and have good traffic before you go ahead and park it. But there will be no reason to park your domain if you are making money with your site now. I have a few domains parked at godaddy & it seems hit and miss. What kind of factor do the keywords play?
I’m literally brand new to all this stuff (but am loving every second). I recently pointed my first domain to Sedo parking (and was discouraged to find the clicks were mainly – inadvertently – from me only). A very low (read: pretty much nonexistent) traffic site, so no worries there. But in terms of the multiple domains I am planning on purchasing soon, can anyone recommend WhyPark’s service? I know it’s $100/year, up to 100 names…and it’s supposed to be decent, but I haven’t yet heard why I should choose this over the GoDaddy / Sedo free services…? thanks in advance…
@kfink – breaking it down its $1/domain if you have 100 of them.
Whypark isn’t going to be for most sites, as if you get alot of type in traffic already you might be better off developing or with sedo/namedrive etc.
I would recommend Whypark for sites that does not do well after you tried them out on sedo/namedrive. I also recently finished my report after using it for 100 days. I left my blog link in a previous comment, and don’t want to spam Shai’s blog here with it.
The other reason to go with Whypark if sedo/namedrive doesn’t get you traffic is that you’ll actually gain page rank from being indexed. My trial site received a PR3 last update. If you are into domaining/reselling, sites with some PR does get a little extra money for it.

I`d like to hea rmore form the people claiming $1000 + from a site.
How do you actually GET traffic to the sites?
How come on namedrive.com my portfolio shows I have accumulated $15 this month so far with 46 clicks, but when I click on the monthly total or monthly stats page it says I have only made $4.64 with 17 clicks? Does it just take a minute to update or what? Also when it comes time for payday which do I get paid the $15 or the $4? Thanks a lot!
i’m pretty new to the cash parking stuff, but i’ve read around on different forums and blogs and tried my parking with a few different places. I have several domains and services with godaddy.com so i figured i would try their cash parking. I highly recommend NOT using them for cash parking. the page layouts suck, the options for custimization on the parked pages is practicly non-existant. on other parking services you can change the layouts a lot more and even put in meta tags, custom sections, ect. and also godaddy charges for cash parking where other companies dont.
I would be interested in finding out if anyone knows how to get more traffic from the average 2-3 word domain names as I hardly get any traffic at all on most of my domain names. thanks,
What are the risks of parking a domain and then building it into a website?
when you park a domain, it typcally decreases your page rank on search engines. most people build a website up to get page rank then park the domain.
There are no risks in parking and then building. A lot of people do that. You may not get SEO while parking, but you won’t have any penalty to deal with later or anything.

My main question for today is: I recently bought and/or transferred over some names, and they generated some decent traffic at FIRST – but now I’m down to 0. Does this have to do with keywords and/or shifts that may have occurred after a transfer? …thanks as always…
I just bought 2 domains and I stubbled accross parking I am an Australian resident and after signing up for parking on go daddy ($3,99 for one month so no great loss if I don’t use it) I read the fine print and it seem I have to pay 30% in US taxes, I am a little scared to fill in the forms and commit to cash parking even though I have alreay paid for it because I am unsure If I will also have to pay Australian taxes on the money. What do you guys think?
I dont believe you have to pay taxes on it twice. when you make any revenue off of godaddy’s cash parking they dont take any out for taxes but they report it to the IRS so if you are a citizen of the US then you have to file it in your taxes. just fyi though, if you use namedrive.com they dont charge monthly fee for parking and dont require tax information. the payout isn’t as good, they give you like 40 – %60 compaired to godaddy’s %80 but with namedrive or parked.com or sedo, ect. you dont have to pay a monthly fee AND you can fully modify the page to make it look the way you want. Godaddy doesnt let you change the content on the page (your own images, links, ect.)

In my opinion Godaddy is best for CP domain hosting
Godaddy does give better payout but their parking pages are terrible and you cannot modify them at all. So even if you get a better CPC on Godaddy, the chances your going to get decent traffic is pretty slim.
I dis agree with this people are shopping for discount pricing not templets
discount prices have nothing to do with cash parking. if you want to get revenue from your cash parking you need traffic, and you need clicks. by optimizing the content of the page you can increase traffic by getting your domain name indexed in search engines. secondly once you get traffic the more your site looks like a parked page the less likely someone is going to click on a link. ideally you want your parked page to look just like any other website.
