Domain Cash Parking

cash parking
In all my online money making years, I’ve never looked in to one popular way some webpreneurs make money: Domain Cash Parking.
What is it? Basically, you buy a domain name and choose a place to ‘park’ it where you can get paid through some kind of revenue sharing system.

This is good if you own several domain names that are not being used and/or ‘under construction’. Instead of leaving these domains on their own, you can park them with a domain parking service and you can earn money by doing so.

There are several services that offer domain cash parking. And, depending on the number of domains you have, you might want to look at different services. Some cash parking services are free and some charge a fee.

If you have less than 50 domains that you wish to park, one popular service is Sedo. It has a free and a paid (Pro) version. I’ve heard some good reports about Sedo, but haven’t really had a first hand experience.

Another popular service is called Parked. A couple of other options: plus1.net and iMonetize.

All these also handle more than 50 domains. However, these cash parking services prefer to deal with bulk domain name parking (50+): Active Audience and Traffic Z.

How much money can people make with domain cash parking? It depends. Some people have reported earnings of a few cents to earning $50+ a week per domain name.

If you have experience in domain cash parking, please let us know what you think about it and recommend your favourite service.

OK, so this thread has picked up pace recently. So far, too many variances on who does better on what. I don’t feel like paying GoDaddy and philosophically, I am starting to dislike Parsons for taking people’s 1st amendment away and removing websites (google it) — he’s going over the top and that monopoly attitude should lead to a “market correction”. In that spirit, if I have 80 domains, do not want to worry too much about anything and make some tests, please name a few properties…
    Sedo
    WhyPark
    Parked…

Does anyone have the FULL LIST Of parking properties which they could email me? ronintoronto@gmail.com — thanks gang!

I love the fact so many people are out there helping each other!

I haven’t seen a full list anywhere, as people keep joining and leaving the field. Some resources like those you requested:

Comparisons of the best services: http://parkquick.com/content/view/67

Very recent video interviews of leadership of Parked, Sedo, DomainSponsor, and TrafficZ:
    http://parkquick.tv

Free monthly newsletter that provides news on the parking companies:
    http://namemonetizer.com

It’s not easy to get traffic to the average 2 or 3 word domain name. Most parking services won’t help you get traffic. The best traditional services to help yopu grow traffic are probably Parked and TrafficZ, but you will need to add custom content in order to gain some SEO advantage.

    Dear All,

Just signed up with Godaddy and look forward for my first earning. After 1 day, I didn’t see any impression at all. I viewed the page myself without clicking the link. However, in my reports I don’t see any impression at all. Do they need 1 day to refresh their reports?

    Any reply is much appreciated!

Sorry for being unclear Aaron. Maybe it exists but is there a COMPREHENSIVE LIST of “parking services” – I have heard about 5 or 6 and curious is there are many more.

I’d like to investigate all of them. I have 80+ domains so I’d like to CAPITALize on them with the right service.

    Alex… here are a few:

fabulous, namedrive, sedo, sedo pro, parked, godaddy, whypark.

richard… regarding your cashparking at godaddy, it will take about 24 hours to post. some parking sits like namedrive or parked.com will give you an estimate that shows up a few hours after the click, but the parking services have to validate the clicks before posting an exact amount. which typcally takes about 24 hours.

Yeah, I’d like to know that too! How to optimize a CP domain. I have 142 domains parked at godaddy and have made around 60.00 per month consisitently for the past 4 months.

My traffic is increasing this month. So far, I have no complaints about godaddy.

I do want to make a landing page for some of my domains that are similar in topic.

I would appreciate any pointers anyone has about creating landing pages.

    Thanks!

Just started purchasing domains. I know how to optiomize blogs so I thought I would try to optimize a few Quickblogcasts I have, attach a domain, SEO them and then get them parked. Anyone every use DOmain SPonsor -cash parking site? I think they are connected to Moniker.

I have 102 sites cash parked with sedo and most of them get unique visitors but no clicks. My two best sites are http://www.1hourpic.com and http://www.stopohio.info. The second site is averaging $5.70 per click.

I would like to find free cash parking that has news feeds and visual content to make it more search engine friendly.

    Hello:
I have a quick question about your cash parking experience.
I recently took one of my parked domain names and built a website around it.
For some reason, Google will not pick up the domain name under any of the keywords we are marketing it with.
The site is well designed and full of features that attract search engines and keyword searches.

Yet, I am wondering if the fact that the domain names was Cash Parked for about 4 month, if google somehow has it listed or tagged as a Parked site and will not allow it to be marketed????

    Any help would be appreciated.

  18. Leonard Holmes
    July 15, 2008 | 10:55 pm

I believe that google does not want to index parked pages, so they will indeed try to weed these pages out of their search results. If a site is later developed they usually do pick it up eventually. I imagine that they are slow in doing this because they intentionally do not spider parked sites very often.

i’ve had about 10 sites parked at sedo for the past 6 months and i’ve made less then a dollar, ive tried optimizing & just leaving some alone, i’ve since developed 2 and am now making about a dollar a day on those…but i’m still very interested in parking i was wondering if some of you wouldn’t mind sharing some info:

Your best 2 or 3 earning websites, where you have them parked, and a avg range they earn very month, im hoping viewing what other people have will give me and others some ideas and maybe a better understanding

for example one of mine would be:

    freebieswag.com – sedo – under a dollar

That’s the challenge. Most domains don’t get traffic. You could try WhyPark (but you have to pay $99) and create domains with content and AdSense ads. Domain Parking companies want natural traffic. You will usually get kicked-out if you send them paid traffic or other “artificial” traffic.

If anyone was interested I had done a Whypark review over the course of 100 days a while back. Traffic wasn’t too much, but if a domain holder had a domain with little to no traffic Whypark would be able to build a little traffic to it via search engines. If you had 100 or so domains, it would basically it self off in a month or two.

    Hi -
I have several domains that are either at nr 1 or on page 1 at Google. The search results for the domain names are from a few hundred hundred thousand to over 210,000,000.

If you are interested in buying these niche domains – make me an offer.

Send a pm or mail and I’ll let you in on the domain names ;)

    C ya!

Domaineering is the business of acquiring and monetizing Internet domain names for their use primarily as an advertising medium rather than as an investment for resale as in domaining. In essence, the domain names function as virtual Internet billboards with generic domain names being highly valued for their revenue generating potential derived from attracting Internet traffic hits. As with traditional advertising, domaineering is part art and part science. Often to be the most effective as advertising tools, the domain names and their corresponding landing pages must be engineered or optimized to produce maximum revenue which may require considerable skill and knowledge of search engine optimization ( SEO ) practices, marketing psychology and an understanding of the target market audience. Domaineering generally utilizes a firm offering domain parking services to provide the sponsored “feed” of a word or phrase searched for. Occasionally content is added to develop a functional mini-website. Domaineers and some of those who advertise online using keywords believe domaineering provides a useful, legal and legitimate Internet marketing service while opponents of domaineering decry the practice as increasing the ubiquitous commercialization of the world wide web. Domaineering is practiced by both large companies who may have registered hundreds or even thousands of domains to individual entrepreneurial minded domaineers who may only own one or a few.

I have several cash parking web sites: familydowntime.com, traveldowntime.com, outdoordowntime.com. altogether they have made 20.19 over a two week period. The key seems to be getting your site on free web site submission sites like submitexpress.com. Seems to take a little time getting it going. My hope is that it will pickup. Any recommendations on how to optimize would be appreciated.

I do not understand why all these cash parking sites, do not allow you to generate/ promote your domain name(parked page). By promoting it, it would drive more people to click on the websites inside the parked page……..and if Im not mistaken, isnt that what these people want?

So what, you promote the site, people click on the links….I get paid and the people who own the link that got clicked on….have a customer.

    Whats the problem with that?

I have been do business managment for over 20 years, web design, systems administration, I worked for the U.W in the computer science department for 8 1/2 years, and I say to all parking is a scam, unless you really know what you are doing!

I have 228 domains with Godaddy and I do cash parking, I have been buying domains
for many reasons, I do business managment, for about 20 small companies, have had apox 200 domains in cash parking for about 6 months now and I have made 2.36 total for six months.
You are not allowed to submit to search engines, you can not advertise in any way shape or form the pages that are in cash parking, it is a scam!
it is a parking place for domains you are having up for bid ( selling) and there is a chance you will make a few bucks while you wait for a sale.

The only other thing you can do to make money with cash parking is to do domain forwarding, lets say you have 100 domains, you can point 40 of them to the other 10
but you must remove the 40 from cash parking, with Godaddy they are automaticaly removed. now that you removed the the 40 they are no longer under the same rules, so you can not submit them to search engines and it will drive the people to the parked pages. I have done this now, so I will see if it pays off or not.

I have been reading this blog for quite sometime and I’ve really enjoyed the back and forth stone-throwing about which service is the best. I think it’s time that I perform my own adhoc experiments and see which one of the services come out on top.

I will begin with the following domain names parked at GoDaddy for about a month and sees what happens. The names are as follows:

    NewEnglandFlowerShops.com
    EndlessVibrations.com
    HarleyDavidsonSpareParts.com
    BrooklynHotties.com
    CaribbeanHomeExchange.com

I have 16 domains parked at GD but I’ll be using the 5 listed above as examples. I will post my total earnings at the end of October 09. Regardless of earnings (fingers crossed), I will go park elsewhere and sees what happes.

Questions before October 09 can be sent to jahmalli@yahoo.com

To answer your question[and i forget who asked it, many of you perhaps] WHy parking services as a whole limit the ammount or ban entirely your effort to promote your parked domains: Your domain promotion whether it be top-end SEO or buying traffic, redirecting traffic, or buying adwords-whihc I would love to do for my domains, —ALL of this diminishes the parking company’s profit margin…You see they contract with corporate clients to place advertising for them….yes, they also contract with you to have that advertising on your site….What the advertising company wants is for you to have MARGINAL or NO RESULTS :) ) this way they get to keep ideally 85% to 95% of the advertising revenue from their corporate clients. They don’t want to go into profit sharing with you at all. It would be a night mare if you had no website but a domain with thousands of one way back links and hundreds of visitors a day…this scenario would bankrupt many park domain providers even the best ones.
    Your best domain strategy:
    1) Do not choose a domain in subject, hobby or themes that you like[unless you are planning later to build a functional website]
2)Join googel’s adsense[aka nonsense] and just use the key word feature located on their new dashboard titled”opportunities”: choose keyword streams in their exact typed in order to form your domains. choose domain name strings that end in “info” this is where i make money. Dot come is a waste of time. Plus on most domain provider” .info ” registration is like .89cents a year!
    3. Common mispelling of ppular sites that get good traffic is good. DON,T go after fortune 500 companies, go for small medium companies you have never heard of…just look up their Alexa information for monthly traffic and look at the keywords that are used to arrive at thier site. These are keywords you want to put into your meta tags….Are you learning something now…okay, more commando techniques.
    4. When you are using the google keyword tool; also look the number of results that are produced for that particular keyword in another browser window[using the google search]. Why ????
5]My technique is to choose a keyword that is A]type-in exact of the keyword as a domain as much as possible and ending in “info” B] I choose a keyword search term that is hardly search with at all –less than 10,000 searhces amonth. c} and most importantly the search results are less than 200,000 in Google search results when using that keyword. the lower the search results the better. because remember…inmost cases your parked domain is not SEO-ed, no links, no nothing–just naked. If you have too many search results for your keyterms you can compete..you’ll never appear in the results where it matters when someone types in or “mistypes” the wanted domain.
#######Misspelled domains are CASHHHHH CA$$$$$$$$H!!! Google is getting smart and listing to many of mispelled popular domains in the keyword tool..because everyone would catch on and start making money with google nonsense-i mean adsense fianally.
Makes no difference what parking service you choose, really. Most people choose really really really really really stupid domains and then blame the domain parking company. Start looking in industries and subject areas that do not interest you……you will make money . Do what others are unwilling to do…that is what commandos do….Good luck!

correction.. ” Google is NOT listing too many of the misspelled domain names in the Google keyword tool”

correction.”I f you have TOO many search results for your keyword term, you CAN’t compete, your parked domain won’t get the visibility need to get clicks.”
