Revver Introduces Pre-Roll Ads
Sometime ago, I shared one way to make money online through videos by using a service called Revver. Up until recently, Revver only made use of post-roll ads. And, a viewer must click on the ad in order for the video content producer to earn a cut of the advertising revenue. So, the video has to be played all the way through the end, the viewer sees the ad, and if he/she clicks on it, there’s cash for the video owner. If not, then zilch.
But, now, they’ve introduced pre-roll ads. So, the ads run before the actual content. And, according to Revver, it’s on by default. However, content producers may disable these ads if they wish. And, not all videos are eligible for pre-roll ads.
One significant development with the introduction of pre-roll ads is that the video content producer no longer needs viewers to click on the ads in order for them to make money. If the viewer sees the ad, then it counts as an impression. And, the video owner gets a cut of the advertising dollars. Nice. Definitely one of the better deals that I’ve seen so far when it comes to monetizing online video content.
It’ll be interesting to see if this works for all parties involved - Revver, advertisers, online video content producers, and viewers.
