Open Mic Monday: Fame or Fortune?

Someone recently mentioned* to me that a study of teenage ambitions showed that more and more people are answering the age-old question: “What do you want to be someday?” (or, “What do you want to be when you grow up?”) with just one word: “Famous”. Yes, instead of the usual, “I want to be a doctor” or “I want to be a teacher.” - more and more young folks only seem to think that fame is the only dream worth pursuing.
Anyway, this week, I’d like to ask you something similar: If you were given the chance to choose between fame or fortune, which one would you rather have? Would you rather be popular than rich, or rich rather than popular?
And, while I’m aware that certain rich people do become famous and some celebrities do become rich - I’m not talking about having both. Or having one first before the other. I’m talking about if you were just to have ONE thing - popularity or money - which one will you choose?
If you can let me know why, that’ll be good too.
* Sorry, didn’t get the source.

Well, fortune often comes along with fame, but if I had to choose one or the other, I would most certainly pick fortune. Who cares if you are famous if you have the cash to live well and give your kids the best possible life?

Yes I was going to say the EXACT same thing. There are a lot of famous people out there that don’t have any money! Mostly I’m thinking about those actors/celebrities who are known for being famous but who don’t work!
I’d have to take the fortune - you can’t live on fame alone but you can live if you have a fortune!

Fortune, because then I can do what I want to do, not what someone else wants me to do. Fortune opens many doors and opportunities. The opportunities presented by Fame are generally going to be opportunities that someone else is interested in getting my endorsement of.

Fortune.
Then fame.
And if we were all more mature we would choose health or happiness.
Good thing there’s no real limit, though, because I want it all.

That’s right.First time we have to thank to the God for the help that HE is doing to us and to our family and we should thank with what we have. Then we need fortune and the fame you’ll get with the fortune!
