Poll Results: What’s your biggest AdSense payment so far (in US$)?

in Polls and Surveys

Our last poll, What’s your biggest AdSense payment so far (in US$)?, has recieved 238 votes. And, it looks like majority of JMMO readers and visitors (58%) never received an AdSense cheque yet. It’ll be interesting to know, though, if everyone of these people actually use AdSense in their blogs/sites.

A couple of people commented as such:

“Those stats are a bit scary, but do give a bit of hope to people like me.” – Baz L

“Hadn’t expected that most people didn’t have had a cheque. At least I’m not the only one.” – Kaj

Anyway, only 7% said they’ve received $100 or $251-500. 11% said they’ve received a cheque for $101-250. Only 3% said they’ve received $501-1000.

And, on the other side of the scale, 13% of the voters said that they’ve received over $1,000.

Another interesting comment:

“Kind of dismaying to see that the majority of people who voted haven’t got a payment yet. I have seen people post that they have had adsense for a year and still didn’t get a payment.

I think that almost any blog could be worked with to optimize it to get a good, high adsense earning. If you just take a look at some of the lists that are out there about how much money people have made using Adsense you will see that there are a lot of different types of blogs out there so earning high adsense money isn’t just limited to the “big” blogs or websites.”

It was interesting to note that most people have never seen an AdSense cheque. And I agree that even though AdSense isn’t the best solution to monetise a blog or website, it definitely can help even ’smaller’ bloggers. I saw my first AdSense cheque from my sites even before I learned about SEO and AdSense optimisation. It took a while, but I got there in the end. And, some of my independent sites continue to make money off AdSense even though they don’t really receive massive traffic.

Also, from Shaine: “It took me almost a whole year to get my first adsense payment. I am in better shape for the second payment, but not much. The good thing is that my traffic has picked up lately and my next check will be much bigger than the previous.”

Well done, Shaine! Sometimes, perseverance do pay off!

I really would like to know the amount of page views they did per month to get those hits. I wonder if my amount on my personal blog is low, just right, or needs work…

I am one of the people who has reached the level of consistently receiving a check from Adsense every month. It took me 4 months to earn my first one. Then the next few months it was every other month and for three months in a row I have earned one that falls between $100 and $250.

A lot of the success of Adsense has to do with your content. My primary business blog doesn’t even have Adsense on it because after a year it had produced so little I felt it wasn’t worth it. However I have a few sites that are geared to a non-technical audience where most of the traffic comes through the search engines and these are the sites that perform well with Adsense.

Just my two-bits!

Like Shari posted I was earning with my sites before I even knew what SEO was! In the beginning I just saw adsense as a way to bring in more much needed income. It even took me a while to sign up with adsense because of all the personal information that they wanted – but the thing that finally convinced me to join them was that they were a part of Google.

Comparing myself with the others that have posted here it took me two months to get my first adsense check! Some people have told me that that was good for someone that was just starting out. And so far after that I have managed to make at least the $100 minimum every month this year so far. On a more personal note my earnings for July are almost twice as it was for June – first of all that’s strange because people say that during the summer months the earnings are low because people are out more and away from their computers – so I guess that’s another myth that has been proven wrong. And secondly while having such an increase is freakin’ good I have now worked with Adsense long enough to know that up and down periods are going to happen. Since this huge July period I’m already obsessing over August and it’s only August 3rd!

I also agree that as far as Adsense is concerned “Content is King” – meaning you can remain true to your blog BUT you can also optimize it – adsense-wise – to earn as much adsense money as you can.

Already my blog is on page one of the search engines for one of my chosen specific keywords and I believe that the way I achieved that was to continually work on the content of my blog. I have never manually submitted my blog to the search engines – I just continue to work on my blog and my pages.

Which is the same thing that I believe that everyone else has to do if they want to increase their adsense earnings.

Jeniffer there is a lot of information on the net about Google Adsense so just do a search. You will be surprised at the amount of help you will find.

Great post by the way. It is interesting that there are so many with websites that have never received a Google cheque and probably know very little about Adsense to begin with.

Thanks for sharing information for newbies like me. But for you who have receive the money, how long have you do your job in seo optimization. I think time has to do with success. I have been start with adsense in 4 month but not see a bright light yet :(

I made $1091 in September 2007, but earnings have been falling a bit since then!

I put in probably about 18 months of SEO work before this!
