When I first started trying to make money online, I didn’t know anyone else who has ever attempted to do the same thing. And, there weren’t money “make money online” websites, blogs, ebooks, videos, seminars and such. So, it was all hit or miss for me.
Some tips that I WISH I received as a newbie to online business:
1) Find out the best way to get paid. I ended up with several cheques to begin with that I couldn’t cash. I didn’t know that cashing a $10 cheque, for example, won’t be worth it for me, as I am not U.S.-based. And, there was no Paypal, etc yet at the time.
2) Don’t put all your eggs in one basket. Seriously. It’s a cliche but it’s true. It’s always best to diversify the source of one’s income. I once put all my energies in a single independent contract. And, when that agreement went bust, I didn’t have a source of income for a little while.
3) Always find a new and different way to present a popular trend. There’s no point in doing the same thing as everyone else, as it makes it really hard to stand out from the crowd. However, if you think you can do something different with a popular service/topic/product, then go for it.
What about you? Did you start getting tips early on about making money online? If not, how did you go about starting out? If you have received tips, what are the tips you found most useful? Do you remember where you got the tip/s from?
