One of the newest advertising programme online is WidgetBucks*. It’s similar to Chitika, where website and blog publishers can display widgets that show various products based on categories or keywords. You get paid when people click on the links.
So far, I’ve checked it out, signed up, but haven’t installed the widget just yet. My initial impressions so far:
1) The sign-up is quick and easy. Setting up the pay information is a bit trickier. It demands a Tax ID or Employer ID.
2) There are two ways to get paid: By cheque or by Paypal.
3) There’s a minimum pay threshold of $50 per pay cycle. There’s no way to change this threshold. I think that’s not a good thing. If folks prefer to get paid with a cheque, it’s understandable. In fact, I would like an opportunity to change that to a higher limit, if it was me. But, for folks who opt to get paid via Paypal, I think that they can lower the pay threshold.
4) There seems to be a lot of vendors/products to choose from already. Looks great, but can also be limiting to folks that don’t have product-related websites/weblogs.
5) The widget looks interesting. It doesn’t look too intrusive.
6) They say that it works with Google Adsense and other programmes, so it shouldn’t violate the terms.
7) I can’t seem to locate where the ‘Reports’ will be in the account dashboard. So, I don’t know what that’ll be like.
By the way, at the moment, they’re offering a $25 Bonus sign-up fee when you register. They’re also running an affiliate programme where you get 10 percent referral fee based on the commissions earned by the people you refer for one year.
Anyway, will let you know when I learn more about Widgetbucks. Let me know if you give it a go too.

Their widget is quite neat. I like it.
“I can’t seem to locate where the ‘Reports’”
after you install a widget the stats or reports will start showing under the “my widgets” tab
Bloggers can also earn money with online music stores that offer free music as a part of promotional program. This way you attract traffic, get more returning visitors and get paid if your visitors register with music sites. So as you can see it’s slightly different from ordinary affiliate program. Click on my name to visit my blog where I described how to start this and earn good money.
I just put mine up yesterday. It seems to be working fine. I chose one which is fixed and the other using their contextual ads to see which one will get better click-thru rates.
The only thing that bugs me is that it slows down the loading of the page, a lot.
