I have about 200 domain names but most are domain names to support my primary domain name – LovePoetry.com.

Everyone should have a strategy like – buy only .us names or .biz or some set of extensions. The .com is obvious but expensive. Next would be a niche – like Geo names – LasVegasShopping.biz; or product areas – SkiCountrySupplies.us. Mine was mostly poetry. You donâ€™t have to have a way to use the domain name immediately. I sat on LovePoetry.com for about a year before I made a web site out of it. BUT I owned it. That is important – Buy now, figure out what to do with it later. You have a year in which to decide what to do with it. If you find out that you donâ€™t want it – just donâ€™t renew it. That is simple.

Great to have you back, Shai! This is an interesting poll, and interesting and thought-provoking results. It is really important, if you plan to make money online, to have a domain name.

I think many don’t know yet the value of owning domain names. Many still rely on using free blog/site hosts like geocities, WordPress.com, etc.
