Providing your subscribers with great content that will really help them is so important. If you do this you'll gain their trust and be very loyal to you!

It's true that people don't like to be bombarded with emails, so you do need to be careful. Although if you have something really great that you want to share with your subscribers that they could possibly miss out on then it's ok to email a little more often once in a while. For example if I find a really great deal to resell on eBay or Amazon I would want to let my subscribers know right away so they could take advantage of the opportunity.

Thanks for the great ideas!

Good checklist. I'm actually starting an monthly newsletter with a mailing list this year. Great idea I think. I also think another thing you can do is write great content so it will give people a reason to want to subscribe either view RSS or by email.

Here’s something I’ve been pondering about for a while. How do you make your blog popular if you have great, quality content but are competing in a very established niche where most of the niche’s websmasters have already clued in on the techniques that work? In my recent attempt at promoting an internet business blog called hochstadt.com, I found some really tough competition. There are so many websites out there selling themselves (convincingly) as gurus. How can you get a piece of the traffic if everyone else is applying the same strategies as you are? Does anyone have any ideas on this? Cheers, Lilly
