Open Mic Monday: How Do You Invest in Yourself?

by Shai Coggins on March 31st, 2008

Open Mic Monday - at Just Make Money Online

“I think that much of the advice given to young men about saving money is wrong. I never saved a cent until I was forty years old. I invested in myself - in study, in mastering my tools, in preparation. Many a man who is putting a few dollars a week into the bank would do much better to put it into himself.” - Henry Ford

When I encountered this quote on money and personal investment from Henry Ford, I found it very interesting. It’s true that we’re always investing in something when we go in to business. But, how much of that investment money go in to yourself? How does your business invest in you?

Do you spend money on giving yourself holidays, to make yourself more productive? Do you attend relevant workshops and classes? What about purchasing books and other reference materials?

You are the most important ingredient in your business. Make sure you’re investing in yourself enough too.

    Hi—Shai:

I re-invest any money made back into my blogs, but i also tend to invest in myself with knowledge based goods, be it a biz book or business magazine subscribtion, etc.

It is not only smart, but necessary to invest in oneself and propel yourself forward, forward, forward. It can be big or small, but definitely do it.

I thought I was the only one with that kind of thinking but I guess I’m not alone.
