Just Make Money Online

WizIQ: Online Teaching Tool

by Shai Coggins on May 3rd, 2008

WizIQIf you’re interested in making money online by teaching, one site you might want to explore is WizIQ. A JMMO reader just pointed this site out to me, and I had a quick look around.

From what I can see, it’s not quite UniversalClass.com, where you basically get ‘employed’ as an online teacher. It looks more like a DIY online teaching gig, except they offer you the technical platform and the ability to reach out to their user base.

Basically, when you sign up for an account at WizIQ (it’s all free), you can ‘upgrade’ your profile in to a teaching profile. Just fill in your areas of teaching interests and expertise. You can then set your own rates on a per hour basis.

But, that’s where I was sort of stumped. It’s not clear how you can get students and how you’ll get paid.

So, I’ll see if I can find out more. I’ll report back here if I get more information. If you know anyone who has used WizIQ, I’d love to hear from them.

Some features of WizIQ include:

  • Two-way online class delivery. Teachers and participants may use video, audio, and text chats for classes.
  • Works with flash. No software download necessary.
  • Archiving of all sessions, with playback.
  • Virtual Whiteboard
  • Content sharing in public or private function (share files like PowerPoint, PDF, Word, Excel and image sharing)

For more information and updates, you might also want to check out the WizIQ blog.

Do keep me posted if you give WizIQ a go.

    Hey Shai,

WizIQ looks really interesting, thanks for sharing that.

I’d discussed with a couple of friends a few months ago that there didn’t seem to be a common platform where people could share their learning (at a price).

I’m not sure yet if this is quite my vision of what it should be, but it’s certainly food for thought.
