Open Mic Monday: Will You Sell Sponsorship on Your Twitter Profile?

Open Mic Monday - at Just Make Money Online

This eBay auction for a Twitter profile sponsorship by Ian Schaffer recently concluded. The final bid? $1,082.01. That’s for one month sponsorship on his Twitter profile, which currently has 517 followers. Does that mean that the going rate for such sponsorships is $2.09 per follower? (Hmmm… I currently have 576- So, I could possibly make US$1,200+ a month on my profile?) But then again, maybe it’s just the novelty of it all.

In any case, it may seem like a viable option to make money online, if you’re not against selling ad space on your profile.

So, what about you? If you have the opportunity to do so, will you sell sponsorship on your Twitter Profile. Or any social media profile for that matter (Facebook, MySpace, etc)? Why or why not?

I think the concept is interesting but Twitter needs to fix its issues first. Even when it does, I don’t see Twitter allowing this without trying to get in on it somehow. I think Brightkite possibly stands a better chance at monetizing their product. Imagine retail stores using Brightkite to announce sales to people following them!

shawn: Agree with you on Twitter. They really need to get their act together, especially with all these microblogging apps showing up. One of them might just take off. Not sure if Brightkite’s going to be the one though. But yes, I do like its interface & ability to share phone pics easily. Just not sure about its basic premise (sharing one’s location). Thanks for saying hi.
