Today, I learned about Photrade, a new photography marketplace that’s still in beta. The basic idea is that you upload your photos in the service, then you can sell products based on your photos. These products include: photo prints, apparel, and gift items, as well as digital downloads (stock photo). You can set your own price and they’ll take care of delivering the products to the customer. It also seems like they plan to offer an affiliate programme in the future.
In any case, payments may be: 1) collected in the system and used to buy stuff from the site; 2) donated to your chosen charity; and/or b) sent to you via Paypal (with US$15 minimum payment threshold).
Since it’s still in beta, there are a couple of issues: a) You can only try out the service if you get an invitation; and b) There’s still a few kinks in the system. Plus, I’m not sure yet of its track record when it comes to quality of products, payment systems to photographers, etc.
In any case, I still think it’s a service worth watching. And right now, I have 3 invites available to give away. If you’re interested, leave a comment here answering the question: What kind of camera do you own?
If there are more than 3 folks interested, I’ll raffle off the invites.
NOTE: Thanks to Janette Toral for sending me an invite and telling me about Photrade.
Photrade has been great for me. Mostly because it’s the easiest one to upload pictures to. I don’t know what I’m doing with it and would love to see a few posts on how to effectively rock out with Photrade.
Hi Shai
Thank you so much for writing about photrade!
To answer a few of your questions, first, all of our photos are printed on high quality Kodak paper and fulfilled through EZ prints, a trusted supplier of professional photographers.
Thanks again for covering us, and if you have any questions or comments please let me know!

I’d love to throw my name in for an invite. I shoot with a Canon Rebel — a digital SLR.
Hi, Shai! I hadn’t thought about selling my photographs before, but it’s worth a shot. (Pun totally unintended, but now I’m ROTFL. I’m so easy to please.)
Anyway, I have a Nikon D70. I’d love an invite!
I’d be interested in seeing how different this is from other sites like Shutterfly that offer essentially the same thing.
Cheers,
Marjorie
Nikon D300. More sites, more income right?
I’ve been trying to figure out how to get into Photrade, so I’m throwing my hat in this one. I shoot with a Canon 350D.
Just a shout to all the Canon people!
I’ve been on Photrade since Nov. it has grown by leaps and bounds since then…getting better for sure.
Thanks for the link to PhoTrade. I’ve not seen them before. Certainly seems to be a great idea.
I am just getting started selling stock photos and other photos as well as digital artwork. would love an invite. I use a Kodak Easy Share camera.
Sandra,
Photrade is basically DOA…they do not have funding, so the site is but a shell ATM. Hopefully that will change sometime this year.
My friends and I just started a stock website. While it is in the VERY early stages of planning and development, you are more than welcome to join both the site and the forum: http://www.picbait.com/
This site was started (partially) out of my utmost disdain for the likes of istockphoto….got tired of their Nazi like editors nitpicking my photos!
Tim
I would be interested in this site. Consider me for an invite please. I use a kodac easy share digital. And a Canon Rebel 35mm. We make our own 35mm photo’s at home. I just get the roll of film developed into negatives for $1.79 and we have a film scanner at home that we use to turn the negatives into photo’s.
I would LOVE an invite!! I will be shooting with a Canon Rebel Digital SLR.
I’m a bit late to the conversation, but just discovered that photrade.com (which redirects to myphotoalbum.com) has been shut down.
