Thanks for this opportunity to promote my site. I recently started an online community called AfriTechnology.com (which can be found, of course, at http://www.AfriTechnology.com). It is designed to help blacks who work in the technology industry network and share career advice. I have a low number of registered members, but the stats do show people visiting the site. However, my two main metrics for measuring the success of the site are number of registered users and number of daily topic posts.
I would appreciate it if anyone has advice on how to make an online community successful.
I blog/write/speak about credible presentation skills for senior IT people, focusing particularly on authentic and intelligent speaking sklls.

My nerdy speciality is Presentation Analysis - how to map moment to moment what a speaker is doing and the effect it is having on listeners. Developing this ability means you can become a better presenter whilst watching YouTube.
Oh, and if you visit
http://CobaltCommunication.com
you can pick up a free copy of ‘Rapid Presentatin Planning’ an e-book about how to be ready with a smart presentation in hours not weeks.
Although my blog isn’t monetized, there’s nothing like a bit of honest self-promotion to start the week off - thanks for the opportunity!
Loovya is a unique online dating community that changes the way singles look at dating. Here at Loovya our goal is to help people attract, interact, and connect.
Our approach: We believe that men and women are inherently social and have the desire to interact. While most dating sites focus on sorting through pages and pages of profiles, Loovya focuses on building a more personalized, intimate community. We do this by providing a complete, well-rounded picture of each potential match.
Take a look at our new blog and see some steamy stories at http://www.loovya.com/blogs/
Here at Just Software Solutions Ltd ( http://www.justsoftwaresolutions.co.uk ), we develop custom software for our customers whether it’s for their own internal use, or for them to sell as an end product. We also design websites, and develop website back-end software.
We like to work closely with our clients to identify what they want out of their software or website, rather than trying to provide a tick-list of features. This discussion often ends up with features better focused on the purpose of the software.
We then work with clients to develop the most important features first: when brainstorming an idea it’s easy to come up with a myriad of “nice to have” features, and the really important ones can easily get lost. By focusing on getting things done and ready to ship a few pieces at a time, starting with the most important things, we know our customers get software that helps them achieve their goals.
I write a blog about software and web design ( http://www.justsoftwaresolutions.co.uk/blog ), where you can read more about the sort of things we do.
