IDidWork: Virtual Work Log Tool

One of the challenges of working online is the difficulty in tracking workload and tasks. I Did Work: Virtual Work Log Tool Enter IDidWork.com. This is a free, web-based work logging tool that virtual workers can use to track their progress in their tasks and projects.

Other than being a free and simple application, IDidWork also has the following benefits:

  • It can be used in conjunction with fellow workers’ work logs via feeds (so you can find out about each other’s work accomplishments easily)
  • It can automatically (or manually) send your manager a report of your work log, depending on your settings.
  • Your manager can also send you feedback/comments using IDidWork.
  • You can tag each completed log, for organisation purposes. You might even want to add amount of time spent on the task.
  • You can star entries that you deem are important.
  • There’s a built-in analyse function that will help you to graph tasks based on # of entries done in a day or week, types of tags used, and starred entries.

I can still see several areas of development for IDidWork. For example, I would like an ability to have some kind of ‘To Do’ list that can easily be ticked and logged as a ‘completed task’, once finished. For that reason, it’ll be great if it can sync with various productivity applications and/or calendars, such as Google Calendar. It might also be handy to have multiple areas for one account, as it might be useful for people with several jobs (i.e., freelancers, serial entrepreneurs, etc).

Anyway, I’m still in my early stages of testing IDidWork. We’ll see if it ends up in my regular work apps list.

Hey Shai, just wanted to say thanks for writing about us. Yep, we’ve just launched so there’s a bunch of features we’ve got in the works. Definitely looking to implement a form of the todo list. Thanks again,

Shai, thanks for posting this! I just signed up, and it certainly looks handy for projects with more than two people are assigned. I like the streamlined interface and its no-nonsense presentation (it reminds me a bit of Twitter, by the way). IDidWork seems to have carved a highly specialized and very important niche with their service, and I can see online workers using it since they don’t have access to team management software along the lines of Entourage. Great post thanks! =)

Reman: Thanks for dropping by. Glad to know that there will be continuous improvement with IDidWork. :)

joey: Glad you found it useful. And yes, you’re right. Part of its beauty is its simplicity. It’ll be interesting to see it developed in to a great app.
