In our last poll of the month, I asked the question: “Which social networking site do you use the most for your online business?”

And, based on 129 respondents, it was found that Facebook was the most popular social networking tool being used by JMMO readers and visitors (49%) who run their own online businesses.

Twitter comes as a far second, with 28% respondents saying that they use it for their online business. Then, there are MySpace (13%) and LinkedIn (10%) users.

Thanks again to everyone who voted. We’ll be sharing our latest poll shortly.

I tend to use Twitter more because it’s less invasive I think. If people choose to follow you, then you can tweet whatever you like. If they don’t like it, they can simply unfollow.

Even though facebook and myspace is really popular, I use those for more personal use. I know how I feel when someone tries to talk “business” with me there, so I won’t want to do it to others either. I think it looks pretty spammy. JMO :)

Trini – Thanks for your thoughts. I do think people have different ways of using these tools. And, I believe that anything can look “spammy” depending on how people use the tool. Also, businesses can still appear useful, even when trying to be accessible through these tools.
