Project A Update: A long-time blog that needs to increase income after major shifts. Initial target is $100 a month, working towards $100 a week.

Here’s the latest tally -

• Month 1 – $66
• Month 2 – $147.80
• Month 3 – $154.06
• Month 4 – $188.33
• Month 5 – $120.59
• Month 6 – $152.28
• Month 7 – $100.87

Phew! Almost went below $100 for this month. Definitely the lowest it has been in a while. Again, this may be due to the lull of ecommerce during the North American summer months. In any case, this income is a combination of Adsense and direct advertising.

Total: $929.93

Project B Update: Bringing a Brand new site to make its first $100

Still not updated, but it’s now got a PR of 2.

In any case, here’s the ongoing tally for the site: Month 1: Non-existent site. Month 2: $0.00. Month 3: $0.21. Month 4: $2.27. Month 5: $1.91. Month 6: $1.49. Month 7: $0.39.

So, total – $6.27. All on Adsense. Cool to see that at least it will almost pay for its own domain name registration. Heh.

Project C Update: To see how long it will take for a relatively new online venture to make its first $100.

COMPLETED. It took about 4 months with very little effort. Still working on this venture and has made me approximately US $160 within 7 months. Continuously getting paid a small monthly honorarium. Yay.

$100 Challenge: Year 3, Month 7 Update

So, it’s time to share another $100 challenge: Year 3 * with you. This is basically the half-way mark for this year’s challenge, as this is based on June ’09′s events.

Project A Update: A long-time blog that needs to increase income after major shifts. Initial target is $100 a month, working towards $100 a week.

Thankfully, the earnings for this month has increased from the previous month. It’s still not doing as well as I hope, but at least, it’s not falling below the $100/month mark.

• Month 1 – $66
• Month 2 – $147.80
• Month 3 – $154.06
• Month 4 – $188.33
• Month 5 – $120.59
• Month 6 – $152.28

This income is a combination of Adsense and direct advertising.

So, in total, this site has earned $829.06 during the first 6 months in 2009.

Project B Update: Bringing a Brand new site to make its first $100

I’m almost tempted to give up monitoring this particular project, as I obviously don’t have the time or the energy to update it at this stage. Other projects are taking more of my attention. So, it’s not really a very good “case study” at this stage. Unless you want to see just how much one can earn with a new site that there’s barely any content in it and hardly updated. In any case, here’s the tally for the site: Month 1: Non-existent site. Month 2: $0.00. Month 3: $0.21. Month 4: $2.27. Month 5: $1.91. Month 6: $1.49

So, total – $5.88. All on Adsense. $94.12 to go. Heh.

Project C Update: To see how long it will take for a relatively new online venture to make its first $100.

COMPLETED. It took about 4 months with very little effort.

It feels like it has been a while since I last shared results from my $100 challenge: Year 3 *! So, here’s an update (based on May ’09 events).

Project A Update: A long-time blog that needs to increase income after major shifts. Initial target is $100 a month, working towards $100 a week.

Although this project still reached over $100 for the month, its total is the lowest it has been since Month 1. I’m not sure about what may be the contributors of its lower income. But, my biggest guess is that it’s due to the fact that it was getting towards North America’s summer months. But, that’s just a guess. In any case, here’s the tally for this project so far:

• Month 1 – $66
• Month 2 – $147.80
• Month 3 – $154.06
• Month 4 – $188.33
• Month 5 – $120.59

Project B Update: Bringing a Brand new site to make its first $100

This site remains untouched, and yet, it seems to be bringing in some income, no matter how little.

Tally for the site so far: Month 1: Non-existent site. Month 2: $0.00. Month 3: $0.21. Month 4: $2.27. Month 5: $1.91.

So, total – $4.39. All on Adsense. Hmmm… $95.61 to go!

Project C Update: To see how long it will take for a relatively new online venture to make its first $100.

Since I’ve already met the initial goal for this project last month (Month 4), I think I’m just going to retire the updates from Project C. Having said that, yes, I am still regularly involved in this online venture and I’m still making money from it – including some passive/residual income.

I wonder how the other $100 challenge participants are doing?

$100 Challenge: Year 3, Month 5 Update

Time to share the latest news on the $100 challenge: Year 3 *! No new participants added to our $100 Challenge: Year 3 participants list. But, it was good to hear from one of our participants, Katelyn, who said that her project is already working its way towards its first $100. Woohoo! Well done and thanks for the update, Katelyn. Looking forward to more.

Now, here’s my own update on my $100 challenge projects (based on April ’09 events).

Project A Update: A long-time blog that needs to increase income after major shifts. Initial target is $100 a month, working towards $100 a week.

It’s quite exciting to see this project’s income continue to climb. This month, it’s due to a mix of Adsense, direct advertising (both banners and text), and affiliate marketing. Total for the month was $188.33.

So again, the tally for this site: Month 1 was $66, Month 2 was $147.80. Month 3 was $154.06. Month 4 was $188.33 So, there you go. Consistently reaching a minimum of $100 a month for three months now. It’s still a way to go before we get to $100/week. We’ll see how long it will take to get there.

Project B Update: Bringing a Brand new site to make its first $100

Suddenly, there’s an interesting twist to this project. Even though I haven’t been working on it, it seems to have started making money via Adsense. To give you a background, this is the income tally for the site so far: Month 1: Non-existent site. Month 2: $0.00. Month 3: $0.21. Month 4: $2.27.

So, even though I haven’t updated the site since I set it up way back in February, it looks like it’s beginning to get some income. Definitely a good incentive to start working on it again, right?

Project C Update: To see how long it will take for a relatively new online venture to make its first $100.

Thankfully, I can now report that this project took approximately three months to meet its $100 goal. And, considering that I didn’t really spend that much time on it, I thought that it’s actually not a bad way to earn some extra cash. In fact, I hope to continue working on it even though I’ve reached this project’s target, as I’m seeing other benefits apart from the obvious monetary rewards.

In any case, as a round-up, here’s the income tally for this project: Month 1: Not yet officially started. Month 2: $20.00. Month 3: $51.30. Month 4: $30.52. Total of $101.82!

$100 Challenge: Year 3, Month 4 Update

There are now 10 participants in the $100 challenge: Year 3 *! Yay. Our new participants include Shawn, Shailee and Katelyn. They’ve all been added to our $100 Challenge: Year 3 participants list. Welcome, everyone.

Now, here’s how my projects are doing (based on March ’09 events).

Project A Update: A long-time blog that needs to increase income after major shifts. Initial target is $100 a month, working towards $100 a week.

Although this project’s Adsense income went from nearly $70/mo. the month before to about $45/mo. this month, its other income increased. Primarily, through direct advertising. This is the first month that the banner ads went in to full gear for this site – and one sale alone made a lot of difference to the income.

Here’s the tally for this site so far: Month 1 was $66, Month 2 was $147.80. Month 3 was $154.06. So, there you go. Two months in a row that the site exceeded its $100/month target. And, it looks like the trend is going upwards. I’m hoping that it will continue in that direction. We’ll see!

Project B Update: Bringing a Brand new site to make its first $100

Again, this is proving to be my biggest challenge, largely because I am more involved in other projects than this one. In fact, I haven’t touched this project at all for at least a couple of months now. So, making money from it isn’t going to be as easy. I’m wondering if my other new projects will make money faster due to this. We’ll see. In any case, it still made 21 cents in Adsense even if I’m not doing anything on it. That’s passive income for you.

Project C Update: To see how long it will take for a relatively new online venture to make its first $100.

Month 3 for this project was definitely a lot more productive. I received $51+ for my efforts. This makes it a total of $71. Just a few more to go to meet this project’s goal!

Now let’s see how I did with my own projects… This update is based on February events, following the first month check-in.

Project A Update: A long-time blog that needs to increase income after major shifts.

This one’s already a success by month two, after receiving a few direct advertising opportunities, resulting to over $100 in direct ads, plus $60+ on Adsense. And, a few more dollars from various affiliate links.

At this rate, the target for this blog really is to maintain a minimum of $100/month income. Then hopefully, it will start averaging $100/week.

In any case, I’m happy with this project’s progress overall.

Project B Update: Bringing a Brand new site to make its first $100

This project is really going very slowly. I haven’t had much chance to devote to it by way of building it up, promoting, etc. So, I’m a little bit lost with this one. Especially because my time is being taken up by a few other things that I’m working on. But, we’ll see. It did make something like 10 cents on Adsense in Month 2 though. Heh.

Project C Update: To see how long it will take for a relatively new online venture to make its first $100.

Month 2 is about developing this avenue. In any case, it made $20 by month two. So, that’s kinda’ cool. The coming month’s looking better already as well. But, at this rate, it looks like it might take until Month 4 or 5 before it gets to its first $100. Hmmm… we’ll see!

$100 Challenge: Year 3, Month 2 Update

Very, very pleased with the progress for this. On Month 1 (Jan ’09), this project came up to about $66 on Adsense income alone. And, there are a couple of pending affiliate income that may also come through.

And, although it’s just early days in Month 2, it’s already looking good both on Adsense and direct ads.

Project B Update: Bringing a Brand new site to make its first $100

For month 1, I did not get to start a new site. Things were way too hectic. But, I managed to do set up and start a new site in month 2. And, I’ve managed to put in one avenue for online income on it at this stage. It’s not launched yet officially, so unsure of how long it will take to make money. But, I’ll let you know!

Other than setting up and running my own sites, I decided to get going with a new online venture: providing content for a site. Month 1 hasn’t come up with any income yet, as it was mostly spent on looking for avenues and preparing applications. I’ll let you know what happens to Month 2 in my next project update.

Of course, I have a handful of other projects that are generating some income. But, since I thought it’s best to focus on just a few at a time, I’ll keep my updates to these three projects for now.

$100 Challenge (Year 3): First Month Check-In

Thanks to everyone who already signed up for The $100 Challenge. I have now included Jade, Jenn, and Veronica in the directory listing of the $100 Challenge Participants’ List (2009). I’m really happy to share this year’s challenge with you. I look forward to hearing all about how each of you do with your goals and plans. And yes, special thanks to Veronica for blogging about the challenge!

To those who haven’t signed up yet: If you’re still interested in taking part in this year’s $100 challenge, visit this page and sign up. I’m making this an open invitation until towards the end of the year.

Now, some of you might be wondering if I’m taking up this challenge myself. The answer: Yes, absolutely. In fact, like I did in 2007, I intend to share my case studies with you. Hopefully, it will help you in your own entrepreneurial journey online.

Here are some notes on what I hope to do in my own $100 challenge this year:

• Use different projects to illustrate that it’s possible to move from $0-$50/month in online income to at least $100/month.
• Project A: It’s a blog that has been around for a while, but has had to go through major shifts/changes, so income went down. Will attempt to bring the income back up.
• Project B: To see how long it will take for a brand new blog to make its first $100.
• Project C: To see how long it will take for a relatively new shop/online venture to make its first $100.

So far, that’s what I have in mind. We’ll see how it goes… I’ll keep you posted.

$100 Challenge: Updates and My Own Challenge

In 2007, I started The $100 Challenge (see documentation and participants’ list). Then, I revisited the challenge again in 2008. However, things got so hectic that I didn’t really manage to come up with a decent follow-up on it.

Well, now it’s 2009 and I thought I’d start it all over again. This time, I have more hopeful plans for this challenge. And, I already have a few ideas in mind. Including a similar documentation, participants’ list, etc. like that of the 2007 challenge.

So now, what do you do? If you want to take on this challenge, here are the instructions:

1) Name your $100 challenge. Will it be making you first $100 online, regardless of the time deadline? Will it be a target of $100 a year, $100 a month, $100 a week, or $100 a day?

2) How do you want to reach your $100 challenge target? Blogging? Writing? Sales? Affiliates? Of course, this is not set in stone. No matter what you plan to do, though, do share the relevant URLs (your blog, online shop, etc).

3) Say that you want to take on the challenge. You can do this by either commenting on this post and/or posting on your blog about it (and telling me that you did).

Once you’re a fully-fledged $100 challenge participant, you’ll be listed in our $100 Challenge Participants’ List (2009) in JMMO’s brand new Business Directory. I love this idea, it has so much potential on the teaching/coaching side. I started a mini challenge with my dad, I called it gBay – from garage sales to ebay. We had to go and buy things from garage sales and sell them on ebay to make a profit. I made made -$1.50, but learnt so much (we had to put it on hold due to personal reasons).

I would not have thought about challenging myself if it wasn’t for your blog, I can’t wait for your next challenge to start!! I love reading your stuff it’s so inspiring. Take care. (~ from this post)
