It has been a while since I last shared a Show Me The Money post here at JMMO. It’s just that I haven’t really had a chance to experiment with a lot of new income sources lately. I think I’ve pretty much been using the same strategies and services the last few months that’s why I haven’t had much cause to share here.

Or so I thought!

I realised that even though I have shared my discovery of HubPages with you almost two years ago, I’ve never reported any incoming income from this source. I think it’s partly because, silly me, I never thought about adding a Google Adsense tracker in my account. So, I never really knew if my measly 3 HubPages were making me any sort of income. A few months ago, I finally started tracking my HubPages account.

And, guess what? It HAS been making me some cash via Adsense. Not a lot of money, mind you. But, with just 3 quick articles, I realised that I’m still able to earn some passive income from them. So, I think that’s great. It makes me think that maybe I should try to add a few more articles in there…

Anyway, this shows that the comment left by my fellow online writer and friend Marye Audet really is something worth considering:

“I have been writing for Hubpages for about 1 1/2 years. I have nearly 400 articles. And, at this point, I am hitting over $500.00 in residual affiliate money every month, with adsense being a large percentage of that. I am not as involved in the community aspect as many others because of other writing commitments and simple lack of time. Anyway, if you are not looking for instant financial gratification and willing to work up to a significant income AND post enough to pique google’s interest, it is a great option.”

As I mentioned in this review of OIO Publisher, other than their DIY ad-selling plugin, they also run an affiliate programme if you wish to promote their product.

OIO Publisher Affiliate: Payment In!

A couple of months ago, I shared the resource Bright Hub as a way to make money online. If you’re a JMMO reader who has been following my posts for a while now, you know that I usually try these things myself to let you know if it is indeed possible to make money from such sources.

Well, as you can see in this screen capture from my Paypal account, money has been deposited in to my account recently*. So yes, it is definitely possible to make money writing for Bright Hub.

Having tried this avenue of making money online, here are some additional tips if you wish to look in to trying to contribute to Bright Hub:

• Choose 1 or 2 topics to concentrate on in the beginning. Use those topics as a way to get to know how the system works.
• Learn as much as you can about the process of submitting articles in your channels. Get to know the preferred styles of each specific Managing Editor of the channel.
• Try to brainstorm articles in your topics and come up with good, quick pieces to write.
• Find places where you can submit links to your articles. Good linkbacks earn you an additional $1 per link back.
• Additional traffic also get you on to their revenue share programme, so you can start making residual income from your articles.
• Try to write at least 2 articles a month that will get published within that month, to ensure that you get paid monthly (they have a $20 payment threshold).
• Payments are sent the following month (about mid-month).

Hope this helps you to get more income generating ideas.

* I deliberately blocked out the actual $ amount I’ve earned. My *new* policy with sharing my income online are: If I’m going to mention the source of income (in this case, Bright Hub), I withhold the actual $ amount. If I decide to share the $ amount of my income (the way I do in some of my case studies), I withhold the actual source of income. This way, I avoid possible issues with terms & conditions, etc. I used to share both $ amount and source at the same time, but found it a bit tricky to manage. Hence, this new practice.

Bright Hub: First Payment In!

About a month ago, I mentioned that I was going to test Google Adsense for Domains. Well, I didn’t expect much, as the results of my initial efforts in domain cash parking was pretty dismal. Yes, after trying Sedo and GoDaddy, as well as Chitika for domain cash parking, I was just about ready to give up on the whole concept. But, almost a month in from trying Adsense for Domains, I’m actually pleasantly surprised to see over $2 worth of income from my single domain on that service.

Okay, granted $2 isn’t much. But, considering I’ve received nothing for my previous efforts, I thought this was pretty cool. Besides, for a domain that’s worth approximately $10 a year, if it continues making approximately $2.50 a month, I can end up making $30/year per domain. That’s about $20 profit. Not bad, especially if the domain will be inactive anyway.

In any case, I thought I’ll let you know about it, as I’ve received a few queries about the concept of domain cash parking. I’ll keep you posted for any other developments.

Adsense for Domain: Quick Check-in

It has been some time since I last shared a “first money in” post here at JMMO. So, I thought I’d let you know that yes, some of my online money making experiments are still working. Still getting some money via different avenues including this one that I wrote about a few months ago, where I shared the affiliate programme being run by Fishpond Online Bookstore.

Yes, I finally got paid via Paypal by Fishpond!

This one was actually quite an odd experience, as I’ve received my first payment notice about 3 or 4 months ago. But, I never received anything via Paypal. I let it go and just waited. A few weeks later, I received another payment notice. When no money went in to my Paypal account again, I contacted their affiliate customer service letting them know what the problem was at the time.

Thankfully, they responded very quickly. When they realised that money never did go in to my account, they immediately fixed the situation by sending me the initial payment + the second payment due.

So, moral of the story: Make sure you always check your affiliate payments. And, contact the appropriate people if you encounter any problems.

Fishpond: First Money In!

In true JMMO Show Me The Money tradition, I’m sharing with you a report on a first payment from an affiliate experiment. This time, it’s from The Pepperjam Network. Yes, I received my first payment via Paypal with them the other day. Woohoo!

If you want to check out my previous blog posts about Pepperjam, here’s one where I talked about their Blogger Incentive Programme. And, this one where I announced that I signed up with them and started experimenting with their service.

So, if you want to try it yourself, Sign up with the Pepperjam Network today. They do pay via Paypal, with a payment threshold of $25 in the cycle. If you don’t reach that threshold in a month, it gets rolled over to the next month. It took me just over a month from sign-up to payment.

And yes, I believe they’re still running their blogger their blogger incentive programme and sign-up bonuses.

Pepperjam First Payment In!

As per JMMO tradition, I’m sharing with you another “first payment” report from an online endeavour. This time, it’s through the affiliate programme via E-junkie that I wrote a few weeks ago.

Some of you might remember that I mentioned that one of E-junkie’s possible issue with affiliate programmes is that they’re not directly involved with the actual payment. You have to go through individual sellers/merchants through their respective affiliate programmes.

Well, I’m happy to report that one of E-junkie’s merchants, PremiumThemes (who I also wrote about some time ago), delivered on their promise. Looks like someone bought a WordPress theme via my affiliate link and I received my payment just a few days ago. Cool. So, that’s a go.

It has been a while since I shared a “Show Me the Money” type of post. But, in true JMMO fashion, I thought I’d share with you another legitimate way to get paid online.

You see, not so long ago, I shared with you the possibility of making money online using Tradebit, where you can sell files for download. Well, I uploaded 2 of my photos there. And, one of them was downloaded. And, I received my Paypal payment commission just a couple of days ago.

So, I thought you might want to know, in case you’re wondering whether Tradebit does pay or not.

First Tradebit Payment In!

Just recently I posted on my blog over at www.digitalmoneyworld.com about working online and the hazards of invoicing, getting paid via palpal or ebullion and registering as a soloist for tax etc. Many freelancers who work on line like us bloggers, writers, social network engineers and the like, need to be paid. Yes we have mortgages and grocery bills too! So how do you get paid? And even before that, how do you find companies or individuals willing to hire you for the services or brain power you’ll bring them.

The answer is networking. Yes that little old nugget “networking”. However, just going out to dinner,coffee mornings and wine bars with people who you want to do work for, and just hoping they will hand you a contract, probably won’t work. People may be fascinated about your writing and even envy you, but they don’t understand how you get your money.

So how do you make peace with promoting yourself?

Blogging either on your own blog, with blog networks or doing corporate blogging, is a proven way to earn money online. However, the earnings can differ considerably depending on various factors such as:

- popularity of the niche

- how the blog is monetized

- payment arrangements, etc.
