While looking for a place to store some of my files for free, I found File Factory. I thought that this might be a good solution to put my files that can be made available for download. This way, I don’t have to host the files on my server, and we won’t get the bandwidth strain.

It seems like a fairly simple service to use. Just sign-up and upload. You get 100 GB of file sharing space. That’s a lot.

There are two types of services available: Basic (Free) and Premium ($12/mo or $99/year).

The basic service has some limitations, such as download limits for your users. When you upgrade to Premium, you take off that limit. Plus, you can also take part in the File Factory Rewards programme, wherein you can get paid for the downloads that your users make. The payments vary, but for power users, they promise to pay about $10 per 1,000 downloads.

Yes, not only do you get your files hosted, you also get paid when people download the stuff that you put up. This is great if you’ve got a popular file that people enjoy downloading, such as music, ebooks, etc. That way, if you’re offering your file for free, you can still be rewarded if you host it on File Factory. Sounds like a great idea. But, I have to admit, I have only tried the basic plan for now. I’ll have to gauge the usage of my files to see how popular they’d be first and then decide whether I’ll benefit from the rewards programme or not.

One of the things that I usually get asked about making money online is: “How do I find an affiliate program to use and make money from?”

With the masses of affiliate programs and services out there, I can imagine how difficult the process might be, especially if you’re just starting out with affiliate marketing. In fact, I must admit that I don’t know everything that there is to know about this. It’s such a huge world!

But, thankfully, I have had enough success with affiliate programs to see some steady flow of cash coming from the affiliate relationships that I have. And, having put in the initial effort of finding the right ones that will work for me and my site/s, I am able to see the financial benefits.

So, I thought I’d create a series of short tips for those of you who might be interested in looking in this direction of making money online.

And yes, my first tip is: Look at Where You Shop Online!

When finding the right affiliate program, it’s always good to promote a product or service that you have already used yourself. Especially if it’s something that you liked. After all, it’s easier to say nice things about products and services that you’ve tried and enjoyed, right?

In my own attempts at using affiliate programs to make money online, I found that I’ve made the most money from those that I am able to endorse. That’s why I very rarely get in to affiliate relationships that I only heard about and never really used.

Therefore, I encourage you to have a look at the things that you enjoy buying online and the shops that you buy from. Do they have an affiliate program that you can sign up for?

Also, don’t just look at the popular affiliate programs ones like Amazon. I must say that while I continue to use Amazon, the bulk of my affiliate income comes from lesser-known sites and services.

So go ahead and watch what kind of things you buy online. Do you enjoy buying books, shoes, electronic gadgets…? See if you can sell those same items through an affiliate program. And yes, take note of those shops where you enjoy buying items from. Which shops are they? See if they run an affiliate program that you can use.

Although anyone can start an affiliate marketing business, not everyone can achieve success. Why? 1. Believing that visitors would only click on their affiliate links. Although the task of an affiliate is only restricted to pre-selling, it isn’t just limited to displaying the affiliate links. You should begin with one affiliate program. So, choose a program that you are passionate about. Then, put your best effort to market the product. Test different marketing strategies to see which one works best. Once you are making a steady commission with the product, then maybe you can look for second affiliate product to sell.

3. Believing that using a single method of marketing technique is sufficient. There are people actually think that submitting a few articles to article websites will generate the amount of traffic they expected. But this is wrong. Focusing only one marketing technique will limit the number of potential buyers you can send to your affiliate merchant’s website

4. Failing to improve the performance of your marketing campaign. Many affiliates tend to concern on checking their daily commission only and have no interest on studying and analyzing their marketing campaigns performance. When their campaigns don’t work as expected or don’t generate sales, they will fail to make corresponding adjustments because they don’t know which aspects of their campaigns need to be improved. It is essential to learn every aspect of our marketing strategies. Which marketing techniques are attracted most visitors? How many unique and returning visitors generated? If the affiliate program has established good relationships with their customers, then it has established a brand which is recognizable for its excellent service. You will find easier to pre-selling such an affiliate product.

7. Failing to keep abreast with the latest developments in the industry. There will come a time when the marketing knowledge we know would become obsolete, more so in the field of internet marketing where everything transpires at a rapid pace. You have to constantly update yourself with the newest trends, techniques and news in this field to always keep your competitive edge.

8. Failing to invest on knowledge. Knowledge likewise evolves and you have to evolve with it. Buy noteworthy eBooks, special reports and the likes… those which would teach you the latest tactics to help you conquer your field.

9. Resting on your laurels once a semblance of success is achieved. Success is not eternal. You have to sustain it. If you leave your business alone once it shows the promise of success, you’re just setting it up for failure.

10. Thinking that affiliate marketing can help you to become rich fast. No, affiliate marketing isn’t a “get rich quick” scheme. You have to put in a lot of effort and time, and some capital before you can make money in affiliate marketing.

iTunes Affiliate Program

In true JMMO Show Me The Money tradition, I’m sharing with you a report on a first payment from an affiliate experiment. This time, it’s from The Pepperjam Network. Yes, I received my first payment via Paypal with them the other day. Woohoo!

YouTube is probably one of the most popular services online. But, how do you incorporate its use in helping you to make money online?

1. Add Premium Partners’ Videos on Your Blog or Site. If you have an Adsense account, log in and get the code for ‘video units’. You can create a YouTube Video Player and customise it according to various categories, key words, and content providers.

2. Run affiliate ads on YouTube videos. Chris on Making Money Scoop has some tips on how to do this using various tools.

3. Provide regular quality video content. Perhaps, you can become a ‘premium’ publisher and Google will split ad revenues with you.

4. Start a video blog or site that features various YouTube content. These blogs and sites can be anything from cute animal videos to craft tutorials. Then, run relevant ads and affiliate programmes on your blog or site.

5. Accept direct ads on your YouTube content. If you upload your own videos on a regular basis and you have a decent following, you might want to accept ads on your videos.

6. Enrich your sales using YouTube videos. If you sell an item on an online shop and you are able to compliment your listings with YouTube videos, then it will be useful. Also, you can link to your sales page on your YouTube. This might help bring video viewers to visit your sales page.

6 Ways to Make Money Using YouTube

Metacafe is a web community/service of online video makers and viewers. Pretty much works like YouTube, with a cash rewards twist.

At the face of it, there are basically two ways you can make money online via Metacafe and web videos:

1) Producer Rewards Program. This is specifically geared for people who enjoy creating original videos. Original videos may be uploaded by users and submitted to the producer rewards program.

Basically, your video makes money when it meets certain criteria. Other than being original (and free from copyright issues), it starts “making money” when it reaches 1,000 views. You get $5 per thousand views.

The catch? You can only get paid when your video reaches 20,000 views ($100) or more – AND it must keep a user rating of 3.0 or better. So yeah, you must bring in the numbers first.

A tough gig to do, for sure. But, one user have been reported to have made nearly $100,000 in total. Other top producers have made $30,000+. Some have just made a few hundred dollars. I don’t think many YouTube users get that opportunity to make that type of money. At least, not at this time.

2) Metacafe Affiliate Program. If you’re not interested in creating original videos, but you still want to make money from online videos, then you might want to be a Metacafe affiliate instead. Just sign-up and put the video-sharing code on your site, and hope that that’s enough to collect some dollars. On closer look, though, I’m not really sure about this program, as it doesn’t say much about how folks are going to get paid and such.
