It’s another proud moment for us at b5media as we launch our second portal – Bizzia. Yes, we now have a “one-stop destination for relevant and timely business information, insights and news, powered by 30 established b5media blogs.”

Bizzia comes with a partnership with yourBusinessChannel (a company that creates business TV shows for entrepreneurs and business people who want to hear the latest tips and advice from acknowledged business experts) – so you can get some great business-related videos.

According to b5media CEO Jeremy Wright: “Bizzia.com not only serves as a destination for users to get their fill of business news and advice, but provides a forum for intelligent discussion and reader engagement as well.”

The first b5media portal was launched last month, a mega entertainment site called Starked.

Bizzia Launches Today!

As a co-founder and community chick of b5media (the network that this blog, JMMO, is part of), I can’t help but feel like a proud mum every time it receives some accolades. And, being one of the finalists in Red Herring Canada’s Top 50 Awards is no exception. It’s an exciting honour.

The Top 50 finalists will be mentioned during the Red Herring Canada Event, which will happen on the 15th – 17th of September 2008 in Mont-Tremblanc, Quebec. So, yay to all of us.

Of course, winning will be just an added bonus.

b5media is a Red Herring Top 50 Finalist

Last year, I wrote about BlogWorld Expo ’07 (see here, here, and here). Unfortunately, I didn’t get to go. Too bad because I heard that it was a really wonderful event for bloggers and other web workers.

Well, thank goodness I won’t be missing out this time. Yes, I’m going to BlogWorldExpo 2008 in Las Vegas, through b5media.

The official events will be happening between the 19th of Sept to the 21st of September, I believe. And, if you haven’t signed up yet, you might want to do so before the 22nd of August (2 more days!), as the early bird discount will then finish.

And, if you ARE going, please let me know. I’d love to meet up with you, if it’s possible.

Blog-Off Update: Ideas for Job Hunters on the Web

It’s quite an exciting time here at b5media’s Business Channel and Entertainment Channel. We’re having The Great Blog Off.

Basically, The Great Blog Off is going to be a 24-hour blog-a-thon on the 20th of January 2008. There are a number of participating blogs, bloggers and guest bloggers. JMMO, unfortunately, is unable to participate in the blog-off. But, I’m definitely helping in others ways. So, I’d like to give a shout out of support to my fellow b5ers who’re doing this for a great cause.

Business bloggers, you see, are supporting the charity Accion, whose mission is:

to give people the tools they need to work their way out of poverty. By providing microloans, business training and other financial services to poor men and women who start their own businesses, Accion’s partner lending organizations help people work their own way up the economic ladder, with dignity and pride. 1. Donate. We have partnered with Accion so that you can go directly to their site to make a donation. No amount is too small – every dollar makes a difference! And remember, donations to Accion are tax deductible (you totally knew I was going to bring that up, right?).

2. Spread the Word. Tell your friends. Text your bffs. Link to taxgirl.com or other sites on the Business Channel and let folks know about The Great Blog Off! Tweet about it on twitter (follow me at twitter.com/taxgirl). Whatever you can do to get the word out is much appreciated!

The Great b5 Blog Off

If you haven’t taken up the Chitika | Premium challenge yet, you might want to try it now. In this challenge, Chitika is offering to match any revenue that you generate from the premium ad (up to $100), until 30th of June. However, you must install the code on your blog on or before the 6th of June 2008.

Some important notes on Chitika | Premium:
1) Ad codes must be above or just below your article titles.
2) Ads only get served to *some* U.S. readers/viewers.
3) To avoid a ‘blank space’ (and wasted revenue stream), you’re encouraged to use an alternate URL. That alternate URL may show a different ad that will be served to readers/visitors who do not get to see the Chitika | Premium ad.
4) These ads are CPC (Cost Per Click). So, you will make money from readers/visitors who see and click on these ads, even if they don’t do anything else.

b5media is Hiring!

No, your eyes aren’t deceiving you. And, chances are, if you can access other blogs and sites, it isn’t your computer’s fault either.

Yes, it’s us. Unfortunately, we’re encountering some server issues here at b5media at the moment. This is causing some of our blogs to become inaccessible… Or, if you do eventually find us, we might look a bit wonky. A quick refresh often does the trick to get rid of the bugs… But sometimes, it takes a bit more – and longer.

We do apologise for the inconvenience that this may be causing you. Please know that our Tech team is well and fully aware of what’s going on. And, they’ve been hard at work to get this fixed as soon as possible.

Yes, this is an unfortunate part of running businesses online. That’s why I’m now planning on writing something about the top things that online entrepreneurs should do should your businesses come under attack with server issues. If you also have any tips to share, I’m looking forward to reading them!

Anyway, thanks again for your patience. Hopefully, we’ll be back to regular programming soon enough.
