Ever since Twitter became the latest biggest thing online, people have been trying to find different ways to make money from it. I have shared some of these ideas here at JMMO in the past. And, I thought I’d share another one that I came across recently.

You see, one of Amazon’s recent affiliate tool is a great way to make money using Twitter by linking to books and other products on Amazon using the Site Stripe. All you need to do is visit a product page while you’re logged in as an Amazon Affiliate (as well as logged in to your Twitter account), and you can find the “Share on Twitter” link via the Site Stripe (found near the top of the web page). Click on that link and you’ll have a readymade Tweet that you can use as is, or edit accordingly.

Now, how will this work best?

Well, say you wish to Tweet about a book that you’re reading or a product that you want to buy. Now, you can easily link to whatever you wish to talk about that’s also available via Amazon (using your affiliate ID). And, your contacts can readily check out the product via Amazon using your affiliate link on Twitter. If they decide to buy, you get the commission.

It’ll be interesting to see how people will use this tool.

Make Money with Twitter Idea: Link with Amazon Affiliate

In our last poll of the month, I asked the question: “Which social networking site do you use the most for your online business?”

And, based on 129 respondents, it was found that Facebook was the most popular social networking tool being used by JMMO readers and visitors (49%) who run their own online businesses.

Twitter comes as a far second, with 28% respondents saying that they use it for their online business. Then, there are MySpace (13%) and LinkedIn (10%) users.

One of the greatest help that social network sites can provide to those who wish to earn money online is more exposure for their profiles, which include their websites and blogs. But social network sites are mushrooming like crazy nowadays that it can be just so confusing on which one to pour all your efforts on. Although I’m not saying that you should put all your eggs in one basket, it’s important to know which will be the most useful in helping you find employers or profitable projects.

I’ve landed about two jobs through my Facebook contacts. Now that doesn’t mean that you will also find that much or less clients/projects through this application-laden site, it has a great potential.

MySpace

If you have a very popular MySpace page and you know how to play your cards well, with its millions of members it will be hard not to find new clients if you know the best groups to join, the right people to follow, how to post bulletins and update your page accordingly. Oh you can even earn indirectly with the help of your creativity and the popularity of MySpace – What about those MySpace layouts you’ve been creating for how many months now? I’m sure you don’t need to be told that you can earn from those MySpace layouts. Like WordPress themes, MySpace layouts are one of the most searchable site skins and anything highly searchable deserves attention from those who’d like to make money online using a website serving ads.

LinkedIN

It won’t be dubbed as the world’s largest professional network for nothing. One way that I notice to be of good use to get people to notice you and hire you is use the question and answer feature. Ask a question related to your job and you just might find potential clients inquiring about your services any time soon.

It’s a no-brainer that if one plays his social networking cards right, it can have a huge effect on the bottom line. This is because social networks are made to help people widen their social circles for many reasons and one of the most popular is – to bring in more clients or referrals, to achieve career development goals through finding mentors, new employers, or to find highly qualified employees, contract workers and partners.

However, earning money from clients you gain is not the only way to make money from these social networks.

Land a Job as a Web Community Manager

If you enjoy maintaining your LinkedIn or your MyBlogLog community and you receive lots of emails and comments from your gazillions of contacts, friends, community members or whatever a social network labels your followers commending you for your work or simply loving the interaction, do include it on your resume.

An ideal web community manager should have Web 2.0 – Knowledge, experience, and an active user of a social networking site.

However, this would usually work for those who would like to pursue an online marketing career.

If you’re serious about the “online community manager” jobhunt, you can start preparing by seeing if you can come up with decent answers to these questions. Here’s a job board focused on community-related jobs.

If you find “web community manager” too big a job title, you may want to consider a forum moderator or an online relations stint.

Create Social Network Accounts for Busy Entrepreneurs

Although not yet as popular, you can actually earn from creating accounts for other people. The popularity of social networks as marketing media is what gave rise to this type of job. There are lots of online marketplaces where you’ll find service buyers posting this service. But I’ve become more aware of its growing popularity when about half of my virtual assistance clients ask me to do it. What fun!
